Thickness

An essential factor when selecting a ribeye steak for air frying is its thickness. A thicker steak will ensure even cooking and a better-tasting outcome. Aim for a boneless ribeye with a thickness of at least 1.5 to 2 inches. This thickness allows the steak to cook on the outside while still maintaining the desired internal temperature without overcooking.

  • Look for even marbling throughout the meat
  • Choose a USDA Prime or Choice grade for optimal quality and flavor
  • Opt for a boneless ribeye with a thickness of 1.5 to 2 inches

By considering these factors, you’ll be well on your way to preparing a delicious air-fried ribeye steak.

Preparing the Steak Seasoning

I love Montreal Marinade. It has the best flavor. I use it on all my beef, and it gives it such a great flavor. I combine it with some olive oil and soy sauce, and it tastes amazing. It’s all I need to make a juicy ribeye steak!

There are other ways to prepare a juicy steak. Start by seasoning your steak. Lightly coat the steak witholive oilon both sides. This will help the seasonings stick to the meat and create a nice crust. After applying the oil, sprinkle your preferred seasonings over the steak.

You can use a combination ofsalt and black pepperor experiment with other spices like onion powder, garlic powder or seasoning blends. One popular choice is to use kosher salt, as it provides an even distribution of flavor and helps to form that desired crust. Remember, a well-seasoned steak will enhance its natural flavors and make it even more delicious.

Reaching Room Temperature

Before cooking your ribeye steak in an air fryer, it’s essential to let the steak reachroom temperature. This step ensures that your steak will cook evenly and helps to reduce the risk of overcooking the outside while the inside remains undercooked. To reach room temperature, remove your seasoned steak from the refrigerator and place it on the counter, covered, for about 30 to 45 minutes. Once your steak has reached room temperature, it’s ready to be cooked in the air fryer — and you’re one step closer to enjoying a tender, juicy air fryer ribeye steak!

Preheating the Air Fryer

Preheating your air fryer is an essential step when cooking a ribeye steak. Doing so ensures that the steak cooks evenly and achieves the desired level of doneness.

To begin, plug in your air fryer and select the appropriate temperature setting. Most recipes recommend preheating the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for cooking a ribeye steak. However, you may come across a recipe that calls for a different temperature, such as350°F– make sure to follow the specific instructions provided.

Allow the air fryer to heat up for at least 5 minutes before placing your steak inside. This time frame is enough for most air fryers to reach the desired temperature. However, if your air fryer takes longer to heat up, make sure to adjust this preheating time accordingly.

Following these preheating steps will set you up for success in cooking your ribeye steak. By properly preheating your air fryer, you can ensure a delicious and perfectly cooked ribeye meal every time.

Here are a few reasons I love my Air Fryer:

  • No fuss cooking. When I make things like steak on a grill, I feel like I constantly need to monitor the heat. I need to flip it so the fire from the grill doesn’t burn the edges. Not with my Air Fryer – just flip it once, and that’s it!
  • No splattered grease. Because I do not need to stand over the meal while it’s cooking….no splattered grease
  • I love fried foods – but not the fat, and the air fryer uses hardly any grease.
  • Easy clean-up! I can put the basket in the dishwasher. It doesn’t get much easier. It’s also easy to clean by hand.
  • My kids love to reheat pizza in it! Now when my son wants pizza, he puts it in the air fryer and makes himself food 🙂

Remove the steaks from the bag and discard the marinade. Pat off any excess oil on the steaks.

Add about 1 Tablespoon of water to the bottom of the air fryer pan. This is done to help your air fryer not smoke too much during the cooking process.

Cook time will vary based on the thickness of the steaks and your personal preference. See below for more cooking time. Thicker steaks will need more time than a thinner steak.

Preheat your air fryer for about 5 minutes before you add the steaks. Add 2 steaks to the air fryer basket. Set the temperature to 400 degrees f for 12-14 minutes that’s about 1.5 inches thick. Flip it after 7 minutes. This is for a medium rare steak. If you would like it to have less pink (medium) then you can cook it for 16 minutes and flip it after 8 minutes.

Determining Cooking Time

The cooking time for your ribeye steak will depend on the thickness of the steak and your preferred level of doneness. Here’s a general guideline for air frying ribeye steaks:

Steak ThicknessRare (125°F / 51°C)Medium-Rare (135°F / 57°C)Medium (145°F / 63°C)
1 inch8-10 minutes10-12 minutes12-14 minutes
1.5 inches10-12 minutes12-14 minutes14-16 minutes

Remember, these are just approximate times, as individual air fryers may have slight variations in cooking performance.

Checking The Internal Temperature Of Your Steak

Invest in a reliable meat thermometer to accurately measure the internal temperature of your air fryer ribeye steak. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the steak to get an accurate reading. Be sure to check the steak’s temperature with adigital meat thermometer.

  • Rare: 125°F / 51°C – normally, this is just seared on the sides of the steak and very pin inside.
  • Medium-Rare: 135°F / 57°C – this has a warm, red center and a seared exterior.
  • Medium: 145°F / 63°C – have only a slight hint of pink in the center and are cooked more thoroughly
  • Well Done – For a well-done ribeye steak, aim for an internal temperature of 160°F. Your steak will be cooked through with no pink.

It’s important to let your steak rest for 5 minutes after cooking, in order for the juices to redistribute within the meat. After resting, check the internal temperature again to ensure it is at your desired doneness level. If needed, you can cook the steak for an additional minute or two.

Remember to always follow these guidelines while preparing your air fryer rib eye steak, and you’ll have a delicious, tender, and juicy meal to enjoy.
