One thing that Grounded definitely does not lack is a variety of mobs and creatures to locate and kill, each coming with their own set of resources, attack patterns and adorable skins.
Now, even though some bugs look mega cute, they’re really difficult to defeat and can even be the bane of a player’s existence, meaning that they can essentially kill a player in only a few hits.
One of the bugs that I truly hate killing regularly is the Bee.
Bees, while absolutely adorable, tend to be one of the tougher mobs to defeat and quite frankly exist on one of the most dangerous areas, though there are quite a number of tips that I will provide you in this post with how to deal with Bees.

WHERE ARE BEES LOCATED IN GROUNDED?
Bees are located all around the backyard in Grounded, though they do tend to stay close to the Picnic Table.
Bees tend to migrate between Flowers in order to pollenate them, typically heading to Dandelions for Pollen to return to their Bee Hive.
Although players may not realize it at first, the reality is that they will be able to farm the Bee Hive for Pollen regularly instead of having to climb Flowers to do so. Players should note that this can be very dangerous, so I don’t really recommend it.
ARE ALL BEES AGGRESSIVE?
No, not all Bees are aggressive, though this depends on where the player actually locates the Bee.
Bees that are near the Bee Hive will always be aggressive, meaning that Bees that are near the Picnic Table tend to be aggressive, while those that have strayed away from this area are docile.
Players should note that due to the aggressive nature of Bees around the Bee Hive, players are not safe around the Picnic Table, even if they are climbing up it to get to the Sandbox.
Now, this isn’t usually an issue, especially as Bees tend to be known to fall asleep on the Picnic Table.
I would strongly suggest that if players are newer to the game and are worried about getting attacked by Bees, that they make their way to the bench of the picnic table to see if the Bees are asleep. If they are, players should be free to make their way across the Picnic Table, however, if they are not, players can still make it across safely if they run across the left hand side of the Picnic Table.
Players must make sure that they do not pause in between their run as doing so may lead to a Bee killing you.
In my opinion, it shouldn’t matter if the Bees are awake or not, players should do their best to make a *cough* Bee Line across the Picnic Table in order to get across here.
HOW TO KILL A BEE IN GROUNDED
When it comes to killing Bees in Grounded, I strongly recommend that a player looks for a sleeping Bee or a colony of Bees that are sleeping as this will ensure that other Bees don’t go come and aggro you.
Players should always try to fight Bees with ranged Weapons as this is the safest way to deal with Bees though Bees aren’t actually Weak to Bows and Arrows given that they deal Stabbing damage.
Bees are, however, very weak to both Chopping and Slashing damage, meaning that they are Weak towards the following Weapons:
Antlion Greatsword
Black Ant Sword
Larva Blade
Spicy Coaltana (though they resist Spicy Damage)
Bone Dagger
Insect Axe
Pebblet Axe
Pebblet Dagger
Spider Fang Dagger
Termite Axe
At the end of the day, my advice is to use the Antlion Greatsword, though if players want to deal the most damage with the Antlion Greatword they should provide it with some Fresh Damage by using the Smithing Station.
As mentioned a bit earlier, players should not attempt to use Spicy Damage against a Bee, though they should also avoid using any Salty damage as well as Bees have a resistance to these elements.
Bees also have a Resistance to Smashing and Generic damage, meaning that using Quartzite equipment or any of the following Weapons is ineffective:
Black Ox Hammer
Insect Hammer
Pebblet Hammer
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO KILL A BEE?
As mentioned, players should probably stick to trying to kill bees with ranged Weapons. Players can either initiate battle with sleeping Bees or Bees that are currently collecting Pollen as this will buy the player a bit of extra time to deal some damage.
If players are lucky enough to find a sleeping Bee they should try to deal damage with an Antlion Greatsword that has Fresh Damage on it as players will be able to quickly burst down the Bee. If they choose to use this method, players can finish the Bee off with an upgraded Crow Crossbow as it should already be loaded with Ammo.
Players should make sure that all of their Weapons are upgraded as far as they can at all times, even if they don’t think that they will be using those Weapons forever as the more damage you deal early on, the easier it will be to burst down enemies and gather more resources.
Bees have a pretty specific attack pattern that will allow players to easily dodge enemies, making things like the Perfect Block extremely important when trying to avoid taking heavy damage.
Players should be most aware of the charge attack as it is the easiest to avoid and block. Players can also move out of the way of this, similar to how a player would avoid a Ladybug’s attack.
When players see a Bee shake itself off, players should make sure to run away in the other direction.
It should be noted that the Bee’s biggest weakness is it’s eye and if players hit it with their Bow or Crossbow they can essentially one shot them. This will take a good amount of precision, so don’t sweat it if you don’t get it right away. I will need to confirm this, but before the latest update you were able to one-shot a Bee with a Level 4 Crossbow if you hit it in the eye, but due to the damage nerf that happened, this may no longer be the case.
WHAT DO YOU GET FOR KILLING A BEE?
Bees are guaranteed to drop some loot, though admittedly there is a slight chance that players will only get one piece of loot from battling a Bee.
The following is the loot players can expect from Bees:
1-4 Bee Fuzz
0-1 Bee Stinger
If Bees have Pollen on their Legs they will drop it as well, though Bees need to have recently pollenated a Flower. This usually happens immediately when a player attacks a Bee, so even if a player wants to smack a Bee that has Pollen on it, collect the Pollen and run, they can do so.
CONCLUSION
While the Bee at first may seem like a very difficult mob to defeat, the reality is that it becomes a lot easier to farm in the future, especially if you know about the Bee’s weaknesses. I would still strongly recommend mainly using a Bow, even if you have a decent Antlion Greatsword, simply due to the eye mechanic, however, if you’re good on defeating the Bee in other ways, do it up!
